Isolation contributes to increased loneliness and depression in the Senior population. Safe Check, LLC is committed to providing an on-site safe check companion service to Seniors 60+ years of age, including Veterans, who are homebound. We understand that many Seniors live alone and can feel lonely and isolated due to a variety of reasons. The Covid Pandemic challenged everyone and changed daily life as we knew it. Oftentimes, family members and friends are not always readily available to check on their loved ones due to their own busy lives. Safe Check provides hourly visits in the home. This service is a non-medical and non-transportation service.
Safe Check, LLC is a woman-owned company located in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Tracy Sigfrid, President of Safe Check, experienced the loss of an extended family member in the fall of 2022. The relative was a Veteran who had been isolated due to the Covid Pandemic. Commercial businesses were closed down and both he and the daily routine that he was accustomed to living had been severely affected by the pandemic. He took his own life.
Tracy pondered how different the outcome would have been had the relative not been so isolated and withdrawn from others. From that single experience, Tracy wanted to change the outcomes to be more positive for others. Tracy identified the problem and created a new opportunity to help serve Seniors with a companion visit so that they do not feel alone and isolated.
How Our Services Work
A representative of Safe Check will travel to your home to conduct an on-site safety check visit. The safety check consists of visual observation and a verbal visit with the client. During the safe check visit, the representative will talk with the client and ask them a series of key safety questions and any concerns they may have concerning themselves or their home. At the first initial visit, we ask for an emergency contact to extend safety coverage for the client. Information we receive during a safe check visit is based solely on that visit only.
Our representatives build consistent and caring relationships with clients and enjoy working with the senior population. Some of our representatives have been caregivers of their own parents and understand the importance of safety for Seniors. As a condition of employment, our contractors have background checks completed with the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension.
Safe Check, LLC does not provide medical assistance, medical care, household services or transportation services. We are a safe check companion visit only . We are unable to provide service to those who have dementia or Alzheimer’s due to the complexity of these conditions. We are a private fee-based service.
